“Katie's lessons are delightful”

- Tim Barnes, Alkrington Primary School

Imagine Breathe Achieve lessons are original, carefully planned around a theme, and each one has a clear objective. They are age appropriate, from EYFS (age 3) to Year 6 / 7 (age 12). The content explores issues relating to social and emotional development, and mental health. The themes are woven through songs, discussion, and stories, with yoga postures, music, meditation and creative activities.

The story-telling captures and develops children's imaginations. It also supports understanding and communication. I introduce age appropriate breathing techniques, followed by guided meditation. My aim is to bring fun, self-expression, but also self-regulation, to each child's school day. They are encouraged to become involved in a way that feels comfortable to them. I guide and vary the energy levels throughout the lesson, giving children the opportunities to ask questions, pause, and breathe. Before the end of the lesson (time allowing), I include a creative activity as a take-home item, to remind them of the things they have learned.

I have a vast collection of props that I use to bring each story / theme to life. This makes my lessons engaging for all children because they are truly interactive and cater for all learning styles. My activities are non-competitive, which makes them inclusive and able to be modified for all abilities. This helps to build confidence and self-esteem. My lessons are an invaluable platform for promoting well-being, and developing positive mental and physical health. I believe that children need this now, more than ever.
